Research

Various research themes are being conducted to achieve high purification and refinement of materials and to develop material processing with new functions. The main research areas are basic physicochemical research on material processing by chemical reactions between solids, liquids, and gases at high temperatures, process development for the creation of highly functional and new functional materials by applying basic knowledge, and the development of recycling processes aiming at low environmental impact. The main research areas are the development of new processes for material purification and recycling processes for melts of metals and oxides in consideration of environmental and resource issues. Research themes include the development of inclusion control technology for the production of high-strength steel and the creation of marine environmental restoration materials through the recycling of oxides and the elucidation of their functional manifestation mechanisms. The research is aimed at the development of new material processing suitable for a sustainable, recycling-oriented society.
