Research

The major research subjects of our laboratory are design and characterization of novel biofunctional polymeric materials for the drug delivery and gene delivery systems. In particular, non-viral gene delivery systems are attracted much attention as a promising therapy. My research interest is mainly focused on the conformational change of DNA, i.e., DNA condensation. Upon charge nuetralization, DNA collapses into a condensed small particle, which is suitable for both delivery and internalization into cells. Therefore, this phenomenon is treated as the first important step for developing gene delivery systems.
