Graduate studies at the Department of Materials Engineering cover wide variety of materials, the processing of the materials, and devices, structures and systems using the materials. Through the studies and research, the basis of the materials science and engineering is strengthened and professional background as a materials scientist and engineer is developed.

For non-Japanese students, there is also a special graduate program offering advanced professional training leading to the degrees of Master of Engineering and Doctor of Engineering (mainly Doctor of Engineering). The program is called MEM program, and accepted students are given the unique opportunity of taking a degree from the University of Tokyo with lectures and research conducted completely in English. Also the students who have exceptional academic records are awarded Monbu-Kagakusho scholarship for the whole period of graduate program. For the details, visit the following site:
